What is it about?
In Democracy and Education, published in 1916, John Dewey argued for notions that are diametrically opposed to the currently prevalent views of education as outcomes-based. It follows from his argument that school-work cannot be directed successfully by detailed mandates and current policies, emphasizing learning-outcomes predetermined by external authorities are seriously misguided.
