We investigate on the effect of Spent Mushroom Compost (SMC), by-product of mushroom cultivation, as an organic fertilizer on German chamomile (Matricaria recutita L.) nutrient, growth, yield and essential oil.

Why is it important?
Low fertility of soils is one of the most important problems for agricultural activities, especially in countries such as Iran where the majority of their soils are poor in nutrition and organic matters. One option to access this problem is the use of compost as fertilizer to improving soil and managing organic waste.
