What is it about?

Using data loggers and nest cameras, we found foxes are likely to be a major nest predator, while we also recorded succesful nest defence against crows. Importantly, physical ground disturbance plots provided nesting habitat preferentially used by Curlew, and did not affect nest success (despite possible reduced concealment).

Why is it important?

Eurasian Curlew are declining due to low breeding productivity. Ground disturbance may offer a way to encourage Curlew into safer (fenced and or keepered) nesting sites.
