What is it about?
Wedelia trilobata (L.) Hitchc. belonging to family Asteraceae (sunflower family) is a vigorous perennial herb, capable of producing phytotoxic compounds. In this study, we used LC based metabolomics to delineate the phytotoxic effects of different W. trilobata extracts based on their metabolome.

Why is it important?
Our findings show soil had the strongest phytotoxic activity but with less plant metabolites when compared to leaves and leaf litter extracts. We postulate other factors may contribute to the allelopathic interactions of W. trilobata.
