What is it about?
Antimicrobial peptides, like Ribonuclease 4 and 7, prevent infections in the kidney and bladder. They directly kill bacteria that cause infections. This project identifies clinically relevant drugs that boost their expression and increase their killing capacity.

Why is it important?
Repurposing drugs to boost Ribonuclease 4 and 7 expression may reduce the use of antibiotics that are commonly employed to prevent infections. By reducing antibiotic use, we may be able to prevent the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
