What is it about?

We introduce APACE, an open source computational framework that retains the accuracy and robustness of AlphaFold2, and reduces time-to-solution from weeks to minutes. APACE may be readily linked with robotics labs to automate and accelerate scientific discovery.

Why is it important?

Foundation AI models, such as AlphaFold2, provide new capabilities to accelerate and automate scientific discovery. With APACE, we empower researchers to combine AlphaFold2 with modern high performance computing platforms to reduce time-to-solution.

Perspectives

We decided to work on this project because a community of computational biologists shared with us their experiences trying to run AlphaFold2 on personal laptops and supercomputers. Their stories were compelling enough that we decided to create APACE, a framework that integrates our team's expertise in computational biology, supercomputing, AI, scientific software, and scientific data infrastructure, and which provides the original scientific capabilities of AlphaFold2 with superior computational performance. We expect that researchers will leverage this ready to use framework to accelerate scientific discovery.
