What is it about?
Electron beams in vacuum are an important medium used in interactions with gaseous and solid matter carried out in technological and measurement processes, also in space. We have shown for the first time that for an electron beam current generated thermally in vacuum temporal stability at the level of 6 parts per million can be achieved. We have confirmed our results experimentally using a source of thermal electron emission and a designed emission current controller based on the closed-loop control method.

A significant increase in the accuracy and stability of electron current in vacuum increases research possibilities. This is important in the study of ionization phenomena, many technologies using vacuum.
