What is it about?
Fabry-Perot resonators are commonly used to stack pulses of infrared laser light for many applications. The challenge consists in improving the performance of such optical systems by increasing the quality factor of the resonator and the laser performance in general. We have shown that unprecedented performance could be reached with an excellent stability.

Why is it important?
Such systems are being used for production of high brightness X-rays beams, commonly used for several societal applications, as in medicine. Our work shows that present technology is mature enough to enable operation of radiation sources based on this concept in hospitals or museums.
