What is it about?
Spin current is a key ingredient for developing energy-efficient magnetic memory technology. Here, we show that the proximity effect at the interface between a ferroelectric and ferromagnetic material enables a highly efficient spin current generation. More surprisingly, the spin current generation's efficacy is as per the conventional spintronic materials.

Why is it important?
The conventional wisdom suggests that for spin current generation one typically requires heavy metal, topological insulator, and two-dimensional electron gas system. This work highlights another pathway to generate spin currents by interfacial proximity effect, thereby, expanding the scope materials for spintronic applications.
