What is it about?
Surface wettability has a great influence on the dynamic behavior of collision coalescence when droplets attached to the solid wall. In this paper, the dynamic process of double droplets head-on-collision on different wettability substrates is studied by numerical simulation, and validate the simulation with experiments. The causes and evolutionary rules of different phenomena were obtained, moreover, the study area is divided based on the dynamic phenomenon.

Why is it important?
We derived the effect of wall wettability on the stages of spreading, retraction, bounce and oscillation during the collision coalescence of droplets, explained the force relationship and causes of each phenomenon, divided the study area into regions based on different phenomena, finally, quantitatively derived the effect of wettability and Weber number on droplet wettability area and oscillation time.
