What is it about?

Hybrid perovskites are very promising organic-inorganic materials. Low heat transport must be attained for various applications in optical and electronic devices. We have discovered extremely low conductivity in perovskites based on imidazoles, irrespective of the molecular connectivity (mono-dimensional or bi-dimensional).

Why is it important?

Our findings rationalize the role of molecular packing and dynamics in determining the heat conductivity of an hybrid structure. The modeling of the laser flash analysis on polycrystal samples allows a realistic model of porosity.

Perspectives

This paper is the first result from a diverse group of authors coming from different areas (crystallography, materials engineering, solution chemistry). We look forward to extending these approach to more materials in the hybrid perovskite family.
