What is it about?
Our paper has been published in APL in collaboration with Tohoku and Tokyo Universities in Japan. We have evaluated thermally-induced spins on magnetisation reversal in a GMR pillar by replacing the conventional oxides around the pillar to separate the top and bottom electrodes with a ferromagnetic oxide. We have found the strong magnetic coupling between the ferromagnetic oxide and the edge domains formed in the pillar.

Why is it important?
The thermal assistance for magnetisation reversal can reduce the corresponding critical current density for efficient computation in the future.
