What is it about?
Valve seat is an important element that conveys the excess heat from the valve. We have shown that by changing the material of the valve seat, the heat transfer rate has been also behaving differently. Additional of copper-based valve seat help to extract more heat from the valve which reduce any damage or knocking occurs in the engine. We used transient thermal simulation to simulate the heat transfer between the valve and its seat.

Why is it important?
Our findings show that by choosing copper-based material for the valve seat, we can improve the rate of heat transfer between the valve and its seat. Thus, the overall engine performance can be enhanced once the rate of heat transfer in the engine's component has been improved.
