What is it about?
Quasi-parallel collisionless shocks are important objects studied in space and astrophysics, but reproducing one in the laboratory for closer study has proved to be very challenging. This paper discusses the theoretical conditions necessary to create such a shock and explores the possibility of driving such an experiment with a laser-produced plasma.
