Why is it important?
SERS is a potential technique for detection of explosives in the extremely low concentration regime. We have developed laser ablation technique in liquids using picosecond and femtosecond pulses for preparing efficient SERS substrates. We demonstrate here detection of explosive molecule RDX using a portable Raman spectrometer.
