What is it about?
This is a new approach to the theory of nucleation that treats all aspects in a self-consistent manner. The theory is based on fluctuating hydrodynamics and incorporates microscopic free energy functionals.

Why is it important?
This represents a new approach to an old problem. On the one hand, it reproduces classical nucleation theory in the appropriate limit while, on the other hand, it allows one to go far beyond the classical theory by including transport, diffuse interfaces, etc. in a single framework.
