What is it about?

The theme for the proposed project is smart dust bin for smart cities. One of the major problems in the smart city is the collection, segregation, disposal and level detection of garbage. An IOT based rover dustbin is proposed and it moves with the help of rover which is in the bottom of the dustbin. It is controlled by the garbage collector and also it can be manually programmed it to a certain path. It automatically segregates the garbage into degradable and nondegradable with the help of metal and DHT sensor. The rover dustbin moves to each and every house for garbage collection and gives a buzzer sound. The cap of the dustbin automatically opens for garbage collection with the help of ultrasonic sensor and closes after 3 seconds when it is not detecting any garbage and the dustbin moves to the next house. Since this dustbin is closed splitting out of the garbage and have the unpleasant odour is avoided and it have the segregation mechanism with it. Once the bin is full it gives the signal to the garbage collector by using the IOT system and it automatically moves to the garbage disposal place and then it dispose the garbage in that place. By this IOT based rover dustbin the spreading of diseases will be avoided and the contactless environment in the garbage collection is possible for smart cities.

Why is it important?

Our proposed methodology involves four processes to manage the garbage namely, a) Collection b) Segregation c) Disposal d) Level Detection

Perspectives

In this proposed project named, “IOT BASED ROVER DUSTBIN” contactless garbage collection is implemented to manage the garbage collection in the municipal level. This proposed smart dustbin with smart sensors and IOT devices helps in the collection, segregation, disposal and capacity detection of the garbage in the real time. This project varies from the existing projects by integrating four processes namely the collection, segregation, disposal and level detection. A new application is created for controlling the rover setup and manage the garbage level in our project by using the Blynk IOT application. Through this application one can communicate and monitor the rover anywhere in the world as it is connected to internet. The future enhancement of this work is to set up this project with the enhanced safety as the new technologies grown day by day, one need to adopt better end to end communication with the rover from anywhere in the world.
