What is it about?
The lipids Extracted from wet sewage sludge by the direct liquid-liquid extraction technique, conducted at room temperature utilizing a combination of organic solvents known as the Smedes mixture (comprising cyclohexane, isopropanol, and water). The FFA content of two samples of sludge was observed to be 58% and 36.6%, respectively. The FFA was determine by (GC-MS) Gas Chromatography mass spectrometry. the lipids that Were obtained were utilized in the creation of biodiesel through the esterification/transesterification reaction, which is widely recognized as the primary technique for biodiesel synthesis. To catalyze this process, a heterogeneous acidic catalyst is employed in the presence of methanol. Hβ-Zeolite was selected based on its unique characteristics and its suitability for meeting the specific demands of this research investigation. The zeolite was supported with zinc (Zn) in order to enhance the efficacy and reactivity of the pristine catalysts. in this investigation, the laboratory work (experiments) was carried out to know the impact of (Hβ-Zeolite with 3wt% Zn), prepared using the wet impregnation method. The experimental design was carried out using Minitab-18 software, specifically employing (RSM) with (CCD) method. the parameters studied in the experimental design was three parameters are temperature, the Ratio of (CH3OH: lipids) (molar ratio), and the catalytic ratio to lipids. The highest achieved yield was 61% at 120 °C, 20.5(molar ratio), 15wt% (ratio of the catalyst: lipids), The reaction time 2h. Using (GC-MS) analysis, the formed esters were determination. The experiment investigating better yields was replicated using pure zeolite without the inclusion of zinc support (Hβ-Zeolite). Additionally, recycled zeolite (Zn/Hβ-Zeolite regen.) was included in the experimentation. The respective yields were 45.15% and 52.21%. the three sample of catalyst was analysis using (XRD), (Porosity and surface area) and (SEM)
