What is it about?
When we stir coffee with a spoon, we cause mixing of coffee, milk and sugar through swirling motions. These swirling motions have different sizes. In this study, we add new insights as to why mixing does not happen uniformly along all directions at the smallest size of the swirling motions.

Why is it important?
Our findings can help us to understand why mixing is not uniform at small scales. This will also help to come up with new models that can be beneficial for various industries where mixing plays a major role.
