What is it about?
High performance lasers, especially at visible wavelengths, are at the heart of high precision applications, such as quantum technologies. Here, we present the highly stable high spectral purity operation of a monolithic red-emitting VECSEL developed for quantum timing applications.

Why is it important?
Compact lasers with higher stability and coherence are essential for the advancement of quantum technologies (QT). Such lasers have direct effect not only on the overall QT efficiency, but also increase its deployability to field trials, by allowing for complexity and bulkiness reduction. By utilizing VECSEL technology and monolithic techniques, we developed a laser system with ultra-coherent performance in a compact embodiment.
