What is it about?
General Relativity attributes gravity to the curvature of space-time. This geometric interpretation of gravity can be extended by allowing space-time to twist as well as curve. In our work, we look at novel models of gravity within this broader geometric framework and show that the twisting of space-time can lead to cosmic inflation in the early Universe.

Why is it important?
Einstein's 1915 general theory of relativity (GR) was a revolutionary theory that reshaped our fundamental understanding of space, time and the gravitational interaction. Nevertheless, there is evidence indicating that GR may not represent the final theory of gravity. In our research, we demonstrate that these new theories of gravity offer a possible explanation for the inflationary expansion during the early universe, while also resolving the cosmological singularity inherent in GR.
