What is it about?
The mechanical stimulation of the cellular membrane of a cancer cell can result in the cells death when the strength of the magnetic field is applied appropriately. Outlined are the reversible and the discontinuous magnetic phase changes of magnetic systems comprised of three interacting nano-magnets. From these the optimal magnetic responses of the multilayers to an applied magnetic field can be found. These types of analysis are important for biological nanotechnologies as incorrect design of

Why is it important?
This work identifies the energy landscape of three interacting mono-domain magnets as they evolve in a magnetic field. To progress the design and development of nanomagnets for spintronics or cancer therapy the ability to characterize the magnetic response of such systems is very important for optimization.
