What is it about?

Stressful nasal swabs could have been replaced by an easier oral swab to detect a highly shedding virus " SARS cov-19". Oral swabs are less irritating and could be managed with less experienced technicians than nasal swabs. This research aimed to show that there are no differences in the accuracy and specificity between the two methods.

Why is it important?

In a pandemic environment, the number of expert technicians can't cover the number of cases presented for testing resulting in chaos and increasing the risk of infection. The need for an easier, faster method for sampling will help in organizing the steps for detecting and analyzing the swabs.

Perspectives

We learned a lot from COVID-19. The best lesson was: how to organize your work, team, and sample collection to decrease the risk of them getting infected.
