What is it about?
This article investigates the recovery tendency of bone-related markers after treatments of DKA.The study revealed that the bone turnover of DKA is significantly different in pre-treatment and recovery; however, NMID might recover quickly if the patients received appropriate treatment. Importantly, pancreatic function plays a critical role in changing bone turnover biomarkers.

Why is it important?
We previously found that patients with DKA were at higher risks of osteoporosis and bone fracture, which may be related to the thyroid function, for thyroid function could affect the bone markers and its cells. In this study, we followed up on the markers associated with bone metabolism and found that after treatment. However, there is a tendency for recovery; full recovery may take time and differ between individuals and normal. The patients' pancreatic functions may partially determine the recovery rate and extent.
