What is it about?

The mass and age of this quasar are very inconsistent with the timeline predicted by the standard model. The age versus redshift in the R_h=ct cosmology, however, is stretched by about a factor of 2 in the early Universe, which is just right to explain how such a massive quasar came into existence so early in the Universe's history.

Why is it important?

The tension created for the standard model by the early appearance of this massive quasar adds to the hurdles this model must overcome in order to retain its status as the correct description of the Universe.

Perspectives

This is but one in a growing catalog of high-redshift quasars demonstrating that the timeline predicted by the standard model is not quite right.
