What is it about?

Nanomaterials involve materials having particles or constituents of nanoscale dimensions, or one that is produced by nanotechnology, displaying a variety of advantages for agriculture and industry. More precisely, nano materials are materials of which a single unit is sized (in at least one dimension) between 1 to 1000 nanometres (10−9 meter) but usually is 1 to 100 nm. Thus, our nano fertilizer sizes approximately 500-600 nm and it is better exploited by the plant.

Why is it important?

Nano-fertilizers are released slowly and more efficiently than conventional fertilizers. Thus plants can take nano fertilizers in a more efficient way, reducing contamination and costs associated with production.

Perspectives

Nano-fertilizares like the one we developed may result in a more sustainable agriculture, reducing pollution, eutriphication and costs of production. In the future, nano fertilizers will grow in the market.
