What is it about?
Route selection is an important step on the whole planning process of an electric transmission line. This step involves assessment of multiples spatial criteria, as land use, environmental areas, existent infrastructure, in spite of technical details. On this way, we present a method to select an optimal route for a transmission line, using Geographic Information System tools that allow work with multiple geographic maps to represent the spatial characteristics of the study area.
