What is it about?
This study presented a state diagnosis method of transformer winding deformation based on fusing vibration and reactance parameters. The multi-information collection system of transformer winding deformation state was designed. Status database of multi-information for normal, loosing, deformation and specific fault types of winding was established. Aiming at a type S-11-M-500/35 transformer, state diagnosis experiment on normal winding, loosing winding after short circuit current impact and deformation fault winding was made. The following conclusions were obtained: (1) When latent loosing state occurred in the transformer winding, reactance parameter of loosing winding was almost unchanged. State diagnosis method of transformer winding deformation based on fusing vibration and reactance parameters can diagnose loosing state winding accurately which cannot be diagnosed by the reactance parameter and other traditional diagnosis method. (2) When latent loosing and deformation fault state occurred in the transformer winding, it is difficult to distinguish them by vibration parameter. State diagnosis method of transformer winding deformation based on fusing vibration and reactance parameters can diagnose loosing state and deformation fault winding accurately which cannot be diagnosed by the vibration parameter diagnosis method. (3) Diagnosis experiment on three deformation fault types of winding including radial stretch and compression, axial insulation falling off and end folding was made, the diagnosis results were consistent with the actual fault types of winding. The RVM method can diagnose three fault types of winding deformation more effectively and accurately.

Why is it important?
Status monitoring and fault diagnosis on transformers become research hotspots in the industry. Loosing and deformation faults of transformer winding are caused by multiple impacts of short-circuit current, these factors can affect the insulation performance of winding, even cause transformer to burn down, power failure and other major power accidents.It is of great significance to research a state diagnosis method of transformer winding in order to improve the operation reliability of transformer, and guarantee the safe operation of power system. To sum up, the state diagnosis of windings deformation has made some progress, however, there are still the following problems: data samples types on latent loosing and serious deformation fault of windings are few, and recent diagnosis methods of winding deformation are only according to a single signal, which has the limitation of sole diagnostic criterion. These factors affect the accuracy of diagnosis results. To solve above problems, this study proposed the new state diagnosis method of transformer winding deformation based on fusing vibration and reactance parameters, aimed to realize three goals: 1. Diagnose latent loosing state of winding that cannot be diagnosed by traditional methods. 2. Diagnose serious deformation fault of winding. 3. For deformation winding, classify and identify specific fault types. The superiority of fusing diagnosis method proposed in this paper were as follows: Firstly, the loosing state of winding can be quantitatively diagnosed. Then the deformation fault of winding can be quantitatively diagnosed. Finally, if the diagnosis result was deformation fault, established RVM model can identify specific fault types accurately.
