Why is it important?

Magnetostrction characteresitics of anistotropic soft magnetic materials such as grain oriented silicon iron are often presented in terms of magnetostricion versus field or flux desnity magnetised at angles to the easy direction. This paper shows that the more relevant parameter is the resulting magnetostriction along the easy direction which is always highest.
