What is it about?
we come up with a segment selected mapping (SSLM) scheme to achieve the balance between the PAPR performance and the computation complexity. In our proposed scheme, the FBMC signal is firstly divided into amounts of segments of the same length in the time domain, and each segment is superposition of parts of symbols at the same period of time. Then, each segment is transformed into the frequency domain through the fast Fourier transform (FFT). Then, each segment rotates a proper phase to achieve the minimum PAPR. Finally, each segment is transformed into the time domain through the inverse FFT (IFFT). Since there is no interference among adjacent segments, the SSLM scheme can achieve better PAPR performance than the DSML scheme.

Why is it important?
The SSLM scheme is an efficient and a distortionless phase optimisation technique for PAPR reduction. The proposed method provides a FBMC signal with low PAPR, and the signal can achieve outstanding BER performance when the suitable input back off (IBO) value of HPA is selected in satellite communications. 2. The SSLM scheme has lower complexity due to the independence of the segments, thus it can obtain significant hardware reduction and will be convenient for implementation.
