What is it about?
Vibration stimulation exercise has been shown to be effective in improving muscle strength, muscle power etc. To exploit the positive effects of vibration stimuli, vibration exercise devices are being developed for upper limbs (arms) and lower limbs (legs). However, current vibration devices do not allow independent control over the delivery of vibration frequency and amplitude. We have developed and tested a novel uppper limb vibration exercise device which not only allows 1) independent control over the delivery of vibration frequency and amplitude but also allows 2) the user to apply voluntary force while receiving the vibration stimulation.

Why is it important?
As variation in vibration frequency and amplitude can alter final neuromuscular response, by designing an exercise device which allows independent control the delivery of vibration frequency and amplitude, we have developed a device which can increase the effective neuromuscular response generated during the vibration exercise.
