What is it about?
This work uses a simple comparison between two contours for measuring how much a digital shape is different from a reference digital shape. The most simple case, the the square is the reference shape. This measure shows to be robust to geometric transformations and resolution changes.

Why is it important?
Many biological entities have changes in its shapes induced by pathologies, like cancer cells. Moreover, this measure can be applied in many industrial application where a ideal shape can be use as reference shape.
