What is it about?
Eletric motors and the power electronic converters (drives) which power and control them are usually separate devices. We have combined the two into a single package which has several advantages in terms off efficiency, cost, and installation complexity.

Why is it important?
Electric vehicles are key to the reduction of carbon emissions from transport, and accessible technologies such as low voltage mild hybrids are important for encourgaging greater EV uptake.
Perspectives
This paper brings together some key ideas and innovations that arose throughout the 3 years of work to develop the demonstrator drive for this project.
