What is it about?

Our paper is a review of experiences and recommendations for collaboration between speech-language pathologists and interpreters/translators through a health literacy model. We provide foundational information regarding roles and responsibilities. We discuss resources and credentialing for interpreters/translators. We describe recommendations for effective collaboration and the significance of collaborations.

Why is it important?

We hope to provide support for clinical and pre-professional SLPs to enhance confidence to maximize relationships with interpreters/translators to support health of clients and families.

Perspectives

My co-authors and I really enjoyed learning and writing about this topic. My focus was to write something I could take off the shelf for my students and they would leave with tangible ideas on what to do and why it was important.
