What is it about?
This article is about the role of middle-level managers in healthcare, specifically in communication sciences and disorders (speech-language pathology and audiology). This article makes the argument that middle-managers are well positioned to be agents of change within their workplace settings and use their roles to disseminate knowledge to workers and administrators.

It can take 17 years for research to become common practice in clinical settings. This time-gap is often referred to as the research-practice gap. This article is important because it proposes a strategy, to leverage the role of middle-level managers, to help close that gap. Closing the research practice gap can help improve not only business efficiencies in healthcare but also patient outcomes.
