What is it about?

Despite high-tech hearing aids currently available, listeners with hearing impairments still complain about their speech perception in noisy environments. One of the possible problems is that nowadays clinical speech-in-noise tests assess only simple stationary sound sources despite real life is dynamic. Therefore, the aim of this article was to confirm that daily situations as dynamic conversations (sound sources in motion) inside rooms (different room acoustic conditions), has an influence on the speech-in-noise perception.

Why is it important?

It is important to know whether or not the movement of the masker influences the speech-in-noise perception. This because could be a good argument to improve current clinical listening tests to better represent real life situations.

Perspectives

I hope this article will get more people interested in evaluating moving sound sources in complex acoustic environments.
