What is it about?
The article describes the challenges of living with and treating long COVID, a chronic post viral condition which severely affects daily function. It explains how poor breathing patterns can play a role in sustaining and exacerbating symptoms. It describes the process of a comprehensive breathing evaluation and treatment. Two case studies are used to show the impact of this treatment modality. They both presented with abnormal breathing parameters and improved their breathing, symptoms, and daily function.

Why is it important?
This is a unique treatment modality for a difficult to treat condition. Breathing dysfunction is most often overlooked but can be a potent therapeutic option. Breathing techniques are often taught by many professionals, however, it is typically a one-size fits all approach. An evaluation-based treatment is more effective and prevents the use of inappropriate and even harmful techniques.
Perspectives
After my lifelong asthma was healed with the Buteyko breathing method, I understood the power of changing the breathing pattern. I'm enthusiastic to share this knowledge with patients and help them improve their quality of life and daily function. Learning how to understand and work with the breath empowers the patients and improves self-regulation skills to improve both physical and psychological health.
