What is it about?

Graduate students in speech-language pathology have high levels of stress that can have negative consequences for the students and the program. A pilot program in peer mentoring showed little impact on overall stress levels but student mentees reported benefits to participation.

Why is it important?

These findings demonstrate that peer mentoring has the potential to benefit students.

Perspectives

This project sought to help new speech-language pathology students deal with the stresses of grad school. Although the impact of the program wasn't what I was hoping for, it's a good jumping off point for using peer mentoring to benefit students.
