What is it about?
This paper reviews the effectiveness of a new tool called Cochlear Implant Skills Review (CISR) to determine its effectiveness of evaluating adult CI users equipment skills and knowledge and how these results can support providers in proper management.

Why is it important?
As CI technology continues to improve, recipients have many options and features to choose from. As providers, it is our job to support their learning to ensure that they have optimal performance.
Perspectives
Successful implant use relies not only on the skills of the audiologists but the patient's ability to manipulate equipment and to understand how to utilize the many features available. I feel that this will become increasingly more important as we continue to see an increase in the age of patients being implanted and the impact that cognition will play in the role of effective use of cochlear implants. I believe we will see an additional use for this tool not only at the time of implantation but later patient management for those experiencing cognitive decline. My hope is that you will also see the value of this tool and the importance of managing patients through their entire CI journey.
