What is it about?
A multifunctional and NIR reflective yellow coloured nano pigment (Nd3+-doped a-g-bismuth oxide) that can exhibit upconversion luminescence and excellent photocatalytic activity was synthesized by a low temperature solvothermal method.

Why is it important?
The synthesized materials demonstrated efficient photocatalytic activity, degrading model pollutant methylene blue and the antibiotic ceftriaxone sodium under sunlight. These results are important because they present a promising new direction for eco-friendly cool yellow pigments that degrade organic pollutants under sunlight showing upconversion luminescence and antibacterial activity.
