What is it about?

Biodegradable polyesters are widely used to produce biomedical products, such as wound dressing and drug carriers. Here we demonstrated that a polyester can be blended with a protein, despite the poor compatibility between them.

Why is it important?

Blending a polyester with a protein can improve the functional properties of the polyester-based biomedical products. We developed a step-by-step approach for manufacturing blended non-woven mats made of immiscible components. This approach can be used for the rational design of multicomponent mats, including the once.

Perspectives

I am very proud that this article is published. We spent a huge effort on experiments, and there is still a lot of work ahead.
