What is it about?

Compares a variety of zircon reference materials of known U-Pb age to assess how well ages can be measured by laser ablation ICP-MS

Why is it important?

The quality of data for small spots has not been well documented, and are more challenging because small spots have enhanced laser-induced U/Pb fractionation, which can degrade precision and accuracy.

Perspectives

The study also demonstrated the capabilities of the Nu Attom magnetic sector ICP-MS for U-Pb geochronology, which was not well known.
