Why is it important?

This work reports the rational and synthesis of novel urease inhibitors based in thiourea structure. Many compounds showed great potential for use in urea formulations to slow down the hydrolysis of such nitrogen fertilizer on soils and consequently N losses. Then, plants might benefit from this strategy by improving N uptake from soil which in turn may contribute to an increment in crop productivity.
