What is it about?

Tetra-nuclear 8-oxyquinolinate complexes of complexes of divalent cobalt and mangnaese complexes are characterised. These complexes traps carbonate ion and tranforms to respective decanuclear complex. ntiferromagntic properties of the complexes are shown.

Why is it important?

This study shows conversion of lower nuclearity polynuclear metallacyclic complexes to higher nuclearity complexes. The trapping of carbonate ions in decanucleaar complex relates to anion recognition.

Perspectives

This provides a synthetic route for two decanuclear complexes from their respective tetranuclear complex through anion recognition. Hence, such a depicted in this article opens up new possibilities to look forwrad to bottom up synthesis through ion recognition.
