What is it about?
Doxorubicin is a polar molecule, but also contain aromatic ring. This dual characterisit make Dox diffucult to encapsulate in a polymeric matrix. it is well-knwon that aromatic molecules interact via Pi-Pi electrons of the aromatic rings (named Pi stacking). Also , Congo red is an aromatic planar dye, but with lower polarity compared to Dox. If the dye and the drug can interact each other by Pi-Pi interaction, both can be encapsulated in a biogel matrix

Why is it important?
The paper describes how to manipulate the Dox molecule using a "molecular helper" such as Congo Red to encapsulate and make a proper kinetic release.
