What is it about?
We found that ligands containing a catechol group can be used as ligands for quantum dots. They have a strong impact (lowering) on the luminescence of these particles, which can be used as a sensing tool.

Why is it important?
- catechols are great anchoring groups for quantum dots - they influence the luminescence strongly, since they trap electrons responsible for the luminescence
