What is it about?
Pt is an fcc metal that is normally grown into highly symmetric nanocrystal. We demonstrate for the first time that a fibrous nanocube of platinum constructed by networked-ultra-small nanorods can be realized from a reaction that contains formic acid, K2PtCl6, and sodium dodecyl sulfate.

Why is it important?
We highlight two special features in this finding: (i) networked-nanowires of Pt surprisingly construct a cubic morphology, assumed via a long-range surface interaction, under the present reaction condition. (ii) Fibrous nanocube of Pt has a large surface area for enhanced surface or catalytic reaction.
