What is it about?
In this work we report how we have prepared twelve compounds inspired by natural products of the class of ‘lignans’ rarely found in Nature’. We obtained these compounds by simple reactions on caffeic esters and amides, employing Mn-mediated oxidative coupling. This reactions affords dimers with a planar and intensively fluorescent core which are able to interact with DNA and have antiproliferative properties towards tumor cell cultures.
