The synthesis of sugars found in pathogenic bacteria

What is it about?

This paper describes our initial approach towards developing a new method to make a certain family of sugars, of which pseudaminic acid is one member. What makes this family of sugars interesting is that they are known to be associated with the virulence of several bacteria that cause disease in humans.
