What is it about?
We investigated and showed that a change in electrical impedance across a pair of electrode introduced by a droplet to create a second droplet. The production of two droplets is, therefore, self synchronised.

Why is it important?
It is attractive to perform reactions in droplets in microfluidic channels, but requires accurate pairing of droplets of reaction fluids for long periods of time, which is prone to errors. We developed a scheme for self-synchronised generation of droplets to address this issue.
